Damon Burrell, Estee Lauder Company
Senior Vice President, Consumer Engagement, Corporate Marketing
Beauty is big business; in the U.S. alone, statistica.com reports that consumer beauty/cosmetics retailers were estimated to post $64.5 billion in revenues in 2016. In fact, the U.S. is the biggest cosmetics market in the world, and driving those sales fairly consistently has been Baby Boomers, but over the last several years, Generation Y buyers, known for their familiarity with digital/electronic technology, have come on strong. As this generation enters the job market and are making discretionary income, they are not only driving sales in many areas, including beauty, but are also driving the need for businesses to expand and invest in digital and social consumer engagement to gain and maintain their business and brand loyalty – and this is why in April of 2016, The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC), one of the world’s leading manufacturers in this segment, asked a well-known digital and social marketing expert, Damon Burrell to join their team. AzBL is pleased to welcome Damon Burrell, Senior Vice President, Consumer Engagement, Corporate Marketing, Estee Lauder Companies Inc., Thursday, November 2, 2017 to talk more about this increasingly important part of business.
Damon Burrell’s career has spanned consumer engagement, digital/social media, consumer relationship management, marketing strategy and marketing operations. Prior to joining ELC, he was at Viacom as Senior Vice President, 360 Marketing, Nickelodeon, where he led all consumer engagement for Nickelodeon’s media and consumer product assets. He has also served as an Advisor of Colligent Inc., who specializes in social network data collection and research services to brands, media, and entertainment companies, and he was Vice President of Consumer Marketing at MTV Networks. Suffice it to say, he knows his stuff.
In his role at ELC, Burrell is responsible for advancing the company’s consumer engagement capabilities to ensure seamless consumer experiences across all touch points and channels. And there are many, it may surprise you to know just how many brand names fall under The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. umbrella. As one of the world’s leading manufacturers and marketers of quality skin care, makeup, fragrance and hair care products, the company sells in over 150 countries and territories under brand names including: Estée Lauder, Aramis, Clinique, Prescriptives, Lab Series, Origins, Tommy Hilfiger, M.A.C, Kiton, La Mer, Bobbi Brown, DKNY, Aveda, Jo Malone London, Bumble and bumble, Michael Kors, and several others. Burrell’s challenge won’t be easy, however, his nearly 20 years of experience in engaging consumers in digital and social platforms makes him a true veteran in an area that many see as ‘new ground to cover’. But with deep experience across a diverse array of marketing capabilities, and the fact that he is well known as an early adopter and leader in digital and social media, Burrell should have this one in the bag.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from a true expert, a leader in business today and perhaps even more importantly, someone who can tell AzBL members and guests what business leaders may need to focus on tomorrow. Learn how your business might benefit from a deeper look at social and digital engagement; hear more from Burrell about what he sees for the future of marketing, and more, Thursday, November 2, 2017.
